About

From the time she could hold a pencil in her hand, Marti Johns has been writing. She learned the power of words from her story-teller father, and has written everything from goofy, rhyming poetry to poignant short stories to math curriculum to children’s picture books. Any spark of an idea can fuel her passion to create. Her current focus is writing in the LGBTQ+ genre. While Marti understands the world can be a serious, and sometimes scary place for children, humor is her go-to. She writes to explore and celebrate diversity.

Marti lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her husband, Doug, as well as a nutty, but lovable dog, Rusty, and an imperious cat, Zippy. She is also the mother of two grown children. Marti has been a member of SCBWI for nine years.
